Théâtre Centaur

The Centaur Theatre Company has been entertaining English-language audiences with first-rate theatrical productions since 1969. Affectionately coined simply “The Centaur”, it is located in the former Montréal Stock Exchange building in Old Montréal. Founded by Maurice Podbrey and Herbert C. Auerbach, both stalwarts of Montréal’s arts community, the company’s formative years were devoted to producing contemporary and classical plays in English from around the world. Today, the Centaur is renownebrod for reflecting Québec’s unique cultural landscape with a focus on new Canadian, and often Montréal-inspired productions, including several English-language premieres of French Quebecois plays.
