It was in 1686 that the first wooden chapel was built with a capacity of 11 benches. We bought a few ornaments, including a ciborium made in Paris that the parish still has in 2023.

In the spring of 1704, construction of the second church of La Prairie began. Rectangular at first, two side chapels were added after 1725 as well as a semicircular choir which will house the sacristy. In 1730, there were 75 benches there. Then, around 1814-1818, an extension was built. This church served parishioners for 135 years, until the desire for a larger sanctuary in better condition arose.
