Presentation
We invite you to discover the heritage trail of Saint-Esprit. The first settlers arrived around 1784 on land belonging to the seigneury of L'Assomption. It wasn't until 1838 that the Bishop of Montreal made the parish of Saint-Esprit official. Unlike most of the region's villages, which are mostly linear in form, the village core has been consolidated in the form of a small French-inspired town. As a result, Saint-Esprit boasts a number of valuable heritage buildings, and this town-like spatial organization gives it a unique appeal in the region. The wealth of the period explains the large number of opulent houses.
