Presentation
*Site temporarily closed for the season / will reopen in spring 2025.* Retrace the hectic history of the early 19th-century fur trade in the heart of Old Lachine. Imagine the bales of pelts, the stacked crates of goods, the lined up barrels of provisions and, in the air, the lingering smell of beaver pelts — the most coveted furs. Pass through an old stone-built depot, dating from 1803, once used to contain merchandise imported from England or made in Montréal, destined for trade. Interactive presentations and self-guided or guided tours allow visitors to better understand this industry so essential to the colony's growth.
