Whether by bike or on foot, visitors to the Lachine Canal enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle of the city on its picnic-friendly banks or its waterway, which accommodates a variety of watercraft. In summer, instructors teach the basics of paddle sports, camping and the outdoors. The 14.5-kilometre route linking the Old Port and Lake Saint-Louis passes through heritage areas testifying to the city's industrial past, and a district home to art galleries, restaurants, bars and stores.
