As you ride along the Véloroute des Bleuets, stop at museums that will introduce you to the history, local crafts, wide-open spaces, and communities that shape the identity of this region full of hidden treasures. It’s a unique way to combine cultural exploration with the joy of riding one of Quebec’s most beautiful cycling routes along the shores of a lake covering more than 1,000 square kilometers.
This itinerary, the result of a partnership between Vélo Québec and the Société des musées du Québec, will allow cycling and culture enthusiasts to combine their passions into a single unforgettable adventure!

Day 1: Discovering the Pioneers of Lac-Saint-Jean

The Builders’ Odyssey
Begin your adventure around Lac-Saint-Jean by discovering the history of this region. During your visit to the Odyssey of the Builders in Alma, you’ll immerse yourself in the culture of the “land of blueberries,” as told by the people of the lake. A highlight of your visit, don’t miss the chance to explore the former water tower—now transformed into an immersive experience—perched more than 24 meters in the air. Be sure to take in the view and gaze out over the vast expanse of the region you’re about to explore!
Day 2: A Visit to the Land of Maria Chapdelaine

Louis-Hémon Museum
In the heart of the small village of Péribonka, located at the mouth of the river of the same name, discover the story behind author Louis-Hémon’s novel at the very place where he stayed in 1912 and wrote the popular novel *Maria Chapdelaine*. Founded more than 85 years ago, the Louis-Hémon Museum is dedicated to promoting not only the author’s work but also literature from here and abroad.
Good to know: The Louis-Hémon Museum is part of the Espace Péribonka, which brings together under one roof a tourist information center, a gift shop, a library, and several other convenient services that are sure to enhance your stay.
Day 3: A Trip to the Heart of the North

Recognized as a must-see in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, the Saint-Félicien Wildlife Zoo is a paradise for animal lovers. Whether on foot or by mini-train, embark on an adventure and discover the residents of this zoo dedicated to the wildlife of the Boreal region, both native and exotic. Feeling a bit out of your element? Take a detour to the little farm to meet some farm animals that are sure to melt your heart.

The Pioneers’ Mill of La Doré
The Pioneers’ Mill is a heritage site designed for outdoor enthusiasts! Here, you’ll discover the lifestyle and ingenuity of early 20th-century settlers, all brought to life within the historic mill and its blacksmith shop. Make the most of your visit by swapping your bike for a kayak or canoe trip to explore the banks of the Rivière aux Saumons.
